The strokes suggest not only the physical likeness but also hint at the personality of the chamberlain – reflective and discerning, with a poised demeanor that suggests a man accustomed to roles of responsibility and influence. The drawing is executed with delicate lines in what appears to be charcoal and pastel, emphasizing the textures of Linder’s suit and the smoothness of his skin.
