More about this artwork

We invite you to delve into the captivating world of "Forskrevet", an evocative piece by the renowned Finnish artist Magnus Enckell, created in 1901. This artwork offers a window into Enckell's symbolist phase, where he explored deeper human emotions and metaphysical reflections through his art.In "Forskrevet", the composition is hauntingly beautiful and rich in dramatic interaction. It depicts a group of figures engaged in an intense discussion around a table. The scene is shadowy, evoking a sense of mystery and tension. The fluid, almost ghostly forms suggest movement and emotion, as if capturing a moment of climactic revelation or confrontation. The artwork is a masterful display of Enckell's skill in using light and shadow to build atmosphere and emotion. The title "Forskrevet", which translates to "misdescribed" or "prescribed" in English, hints at a narrative full of misunderstanding or fate, compelling the viewer to ponder the backstory and relationships among these figures. This etching is not only a testament to Enckell’s artistic talent but also an invitation to explore the psychological depths and symbolic meanings that are typical of the Symbolist movement.
