More about this artwork

In 'Meditation N. 30', painted in 1934 by Alexej von Jawlensky, viewers are invited into an intimate realm of spiritual reflection and emotional depth. This painting is characterized by its vibrant and contrasting colors, employing a rich palette that captures the artist's inward journey during his later years.Jawlensky's use of abstract forms and bold strokes transforms the canvas into a mosaic of feelings and expressions. The painting conveys a powerful sense of contemplation through its divided composition, where each segment and hue seems imbued with symbolic significance. The deep blues, fiery reds, and earthy greens coalesce, suggesting both turmoil and tranquility within the soul's depths.A hallmark of Jawlensky's late works, this painting emphasizes simplicity in form but complexity in interpretation, inviting viewers to meditate on their interpretations of the emotional landscapes portrayed. As one of the many pieces in his 'Meditation' series, it stands as a testament to the artist’s devotion to exploring the spiritual through the lens of Expressionism. Whether seen as an eye, a window, or a fragmented visage, each interpretation adds to the richness of the piece, making 'Meditation N.
