More about this artwork

Albert Edelfelt's oil on canvas painting "Flowers in a Glass" (1873) captures the simple beauty of everyday life with a masterful display of artistic grace. This piece gently guides the viewer's eyes to a delicate arrangement of assorted flowers, composed with a fresh and harmonious palette. The flowers, including vibrant reds and gentle pinks, are intricately painted with fine brushstrokes that effectively reflect the light and texture of the petals. The flowers are placed inside a clear glass jar, allowing light to interact with the water and glass in a dance of reflection and transparency. This not only brings an element of realism but also a layer of depth to the composition. The backdrop is an unobtrusive brown that serves to further accentuate the colors and structures within the bouquet.
