More about this artwork

We are delighted to feature on our website the exquisite painting, "Choix des plus belles fleurs pl 024" by the renowned botanical artist Pierre Joseph Redouté, created in 1827. This work is a superb example of Redouté’s delicate and precise style, displaying his mastery in portraying the subtleties of floral anatomy and color. The painting depicts a graceful arrangement of Chrysanthemum carinatum, commonly known as the tricolor chrysanthemum. The plant is rendered with remarkable accuracy and detail, showcasing several blossoms at various stages of bloom. The flowers are colored with a harmonious palette of whites and yellows, each petal detailed with soft shading that highlights their delicate structure. At the center of each flower, a deep blue and yellow heart adds a vibrant contrast, drawing the eye and emphasizing the natural beauty of the blooms.Surrounded by finely textured green leaves and thin, wispy stems, the chrysanthemums are positioned elegantly against a plain, muted background that enhances the visual impact of the subjects. This focus on the plants themselves, without any distractions in the background, is a hallmark of Redouté’s botanical illustrations, making them not only scientific records but also works of art."Choix des plus belles fleurs pl 024" reflects Redouté’s passion for the natural world and his extraordinary ability to convey the essence of each plant he painted.
