In the painting, a mystical forest landscape unfolds where rocky, moss-covered terrain stretches beneath a variety of trees, some with dense foliage and others with autumn-colored leaves. In this serene yet complex woodland setting, a large luminous stag stands centrally, majestic and ethereal with a glowing cross emanating from within its antlers. To the right, a kneeling figure—a medieval hunter, possibly St. Hubert himself, draped in vividly colored garb—seems captivated by the sight of the divine deer. Beside the hunter, a solitary white hound sits attentively, poised and alert. In the background, a gentle body of water mirrors the overcast sky, while distant hills line the horizon.
