More about this artwork

The painting titled "Model Seen From The Back" by Harald Giersing is a minimalist depiction of a human figure viewed from behind. The artwork is executed with light, sketch-like lines on what appears to be a textured, tan-colored paper. The strokes are delicate and sparing, outlining the contours and subtle curves of the model's back, buttocks, and legs, while suggesting a sense of gentle motion or posture adjustment. There's a simplicity and an unfinished quality to the sketch, focusing on form and posture without delving into detailed facial features or intricate background elements. This style highlights the artist's ability to capture the essence and posture of the human body with minimal lines, showcasing an economy of technique that invites viewers to fill in the details with their imagination. The sketch, potentially a study or an exercise in form, reflects a classic approach in figure drawing where emphasis is often placed on line, movement, and the basic elements of human anatomy.

Female art nudes, portraits and landscape paintings by Danish Impressionist artist Harald Giersing (1881-1927). Instrumental in developing the classic modernism movement in his homeland, Giersing is remembered as one of Denmark’s most important 20th century artists who specialized in landscape and portrait paintings. Unable to find faith in God, Giersing instead turned to modernism where he was driven by change and beauty.
