More about this artwork

The painting depicts a large, abstract representation of a tea pot, rendered in a warm terracotta hue. Its textured surface is marked with various indentations, strokes, and circular patterns that suggest wear or perhaps decorative elements. The spout of the tea pot curves gently from near the side, and the handle extends from the near the back, both integrating seamlessly into the pot's body. The lid at the top appears slightly ajar, showing a hint of what could be the inside of the tea pot or another element. Behind the tea pot, the background transitions from a luminescent olive green at the top to a forest green, adorned with subtle, vertical line details that might suggest a fence or distant vegetation. The painting's lower portion displays a sharply contrasting, checkered pattern in shades of blue, white, and black, suggesting a tabletop or fabric on which the tea pot rests, adding a layer of domestic context to the work.

Hello, I am a Lithuanian artist Modestas Malinauskas. I was working as a fireman some time ago, now I am creating paintings.

Those paintings are born in my fantasies and dreams. Every single one has a story of its own. I always know the story, but sometimes it is not so easy to tell it in words. The easiest way for me to express it - is to paint it.

My inspiration comes from traveling and different experiences in my life. What I see and what I feel stays with me and I express it with oil on canvases.

When painting, I often use artists knife and layering techniques. My works take some time to create, because of different layers of paint. I let the first few layers dry and after that, I apply transparent overlaps of paint. The end result is what you see.

Enjoy my artworks!
