Cyprián Majerník, an acclaimed Slovak painter, was born on 24 November 1909 in Veľké Kostoľany and died in Prague on 4 July 1945. He dedicated much of his artistic life to Prague, where he became an integral member of the contemporary art community.

Majerník is associated with the "Generation of 1909," a collective of artists who introduced innovative viewpoints and modernist elements into Central European art during the early twentieth century. His artwork is distinguished by expressive arrangements and a deep emotional intensity, which mirror the unsettled era he experienced.

Over the course of his career, the political and social disruptions of his time, particularly the effects of World War II, left a strong mark on Majerník's style. His paintings often explore the themes of human suffering, injustice, and enduring spirit, qualities that have cemented his enduring importance in the history of Slovak and Czech art.

Although his life was relatively brief, Majerník left an indelible impression on the art world. His creations, still highly esteemed today, are featured in museum collections and exhibitions, where they continue to motivate both artists and art lovers alike.
