Cyprián Majerník, an acclaimed Slovak painter, was born on 24 November 1909 in Veľké Kostoľany and died in Prague on 4 July 1945. He dedicated much of his artistic life to Prague, where he became an integral member of the contemporary art community.

Majerník is associated with the "Generation of 1909," a collective of artists who introduced innovative viewpoints and modernist elements into Central European art during the early twentieth century.
