Eugène Galien-Laloue (December 11, 1854 – 1941) was a French artist acclaimed for his evocative portrayals of urban landscapes. He gained particular recognition for his atmospheric paintings of Parisian streets, alive with activity and bathed in the gentle light of autumn and winter. Through his art, he masterfully conveyed the allure and vitality of early twentieth-century French city life.

Galien-Laloue often depicted scenes from Paris, featuring famous landmarks, lively boulevards, and crowded markets. His command of watercolor and gouache enabled him to achieve radiant effects, mirroring the city's ever-changing moods across the seasons. The distinctive atmosphere present in his paintings frequently stirs a sense of nostalgia for the Belle Époque era.

Though his Paris scenes are the most recognized, he also turned his attention to other parts of France, such as Normandy and Seine-et-Marne. His works are notable for their detailed architectural elements and dynamic figures, which enliven his compositions. Today, Galien-Laloue's paintings remain highly prized by collectors and art lovers worldwide.

Throughout his professional life, Eugène Galien-Laloue occasionally adopted different pseudonyms, a widespread practice among artists of his time that allowed them to partner with several galleries. At present, his vibrant depictions of French urban environments provide an exceptional glimpse into the sociocultural climate of his era.
