Christian Rohlfs (November 22, 1849 – January 8, 1938) was a renowned German painter and printmaker. He is considered one of the leading figures in German Expressionism, a movement known for its vivid use of color, expressive emotion, and frequent movement away from realistic depiction.

Rohlfs’ artistic path began with academic training that focused on traditional and realistic painting techniques.
