More about this artwork

Welcome to a serene visual journey presented through "Village Bridge over a River," a captivating work by the esteemed artist Zolo Palugyay, crafted in 1930. This painting is an exquisite representation of a tranquil rural setting, which instantly pulls the viewer into a peaceful state of reflection. The primary subject of the artwork is an ancient stone bridge arching gracefully over a quietly flowing river, a typical feature found in the heartland of Europe’s quaint villages. The simplicity of the bridge, with its robust round arch, contrasts beautifully with the soft, naturalistic rendering of the landscape around it.Above the bridge, Palugyay uses muted tones of beige and off-white for the sky, suggesting the calm, perhaps overcast weather of an early autumn day. Dark, textured strokes define lush trees on the riverbank, casting gentle shadows on the structure and adding depth to the scene. The reflection of vibrant colors in the water under the bridge adds a sense of vitality to the painting, hinting at hidden layers beyond what is immediately visible. This piece by Palugyay is not just a picture of a physical structure but a portal to the essence of countryside serenity and architectural harmony with nature.
